Matthew at 3 Months

As cliche as it sounds, I can't believe Matthew is already 3 months old...
And he continues to be the best baby ever. He smiles constantly, he has started making more and more sounds (especially when he is happy and playing)...he has a really good disposition (I am biased, I know, but he really does!). He has moved in to his 3-6 mo clothes and is wearing size 2 diapers. He finishes every bottle he is offered and is drinking between 5-6 oz at each feeding. He goes to bed at 7:30 pm (happily) and wakes up at 6:30 am. He loves taking baths (and loves peeing in them even more).
He loves his big brother...even though Nate is always kissing on him and smooshing him and "sharing" his toys with him (i.e. dumping trains in his lap), he still flashes his gummy grin when he is in his face.
But he really doesn't seem to like our monthly growth check photo shoots...he always wiggles down to recline next to Mr. Dinosaur...

Much better Mom!

Happy Birthday 'Merica

We spent the holiday weekend at CC & Papa Steve's new NC mountain getaway and it was wonderful...we spent a lot of time staring at this view from the porch...

We explored downtown...
(We were on a hunt for a 'Merican Flag because Nate was trying to steal ones out of the centerpieces at the ice cream shop...as luck would have it, we ran in to a lady handing them out...whew...)
Nate ate ice cream (from the bottom up)...

(Important sidenote - please note Buzz Lightyear in the background...lately Nate has been more likely to be seen with Buzz, Woody, or Bullseye (or all of the above) than with Thomas or his Friends. We might be moving on...)

Played in the pool...

(Nate "made" these glasses at school and led his class in the 4th of July parade wearing them- he takes these glasses, and his responsibilities, very seriously)
This is Matthew playing at the pool...he isn't really holding the flag...it was just perfect flag placement and taking the picture at just the right angle...I did laugh when I saw this picture though!)
Nate and Matthew took their first (of many) bath together...

We had a great view of the fireworks in the valley below us so we didn't have to fight crowds...which didn't matter any way because Nate refused to nap that day (too much excitement) and literally fell asleep at dinner...so he went to bed (in his 4th of July outfit) around 7:30 that night and didn't even get to see so much as a sparkler! We didn't tell him what he missed...but it was kind of sad that he didn't get to celebrate the 4th with fireworks since he had been talking about "'Merica's Birthday" for days!

On Monday evening we found out why Nate was so tired Sunday evening (besides the lack of nap)...the minute we walked in the door after driving back he says he is tired and I found him asleep in my bed after I bathed Matthew (it was 6:30). So, I pick him up to take him to bed and realize he is on fire...take his temp - 103 again. (We had just finished his meds on Sunday from having strep a couple of weeks ago.) He woke up Tuesday morning with a mild fever so I decided to take him back in to the dr...this morning they confirmed that he did have strep again/still so we are started meds again. At least he wasn't actually sick over the weekend!

So, that was a fun way to end our holiday but that's ok because we had a great weekend with CC and Papa Steve and he got to have fun before it set in. We are looking forward to spending more time on the mountain with them in the future! Thanks for having us!

World Cup Mania

Mom and Fred bought Nate a soccer uniform for his birthday so it was only appropriate for him to wear it for USA's (last) match on Saturday...even if it is technically England's uniform!(apparently USA doesn't make toddler sizes??) (How funny are the knee socks??) I think he thought he was pretty cool wearing a uniform like the guys on tv. Who knows...maybe he will take after his Aunt Abby and be another soccer superstar??
But unfortunately he slept through the game...despite our yelling and groaning.

After the game, he perked up to celebrate Neena's birthday with dinner and cupcakes. Happy Birthday Neena!
