Nate's First Hike

Anyone who knows Michael well knows that he has dreamed of taking his son hiking and camping one day (that and training him for the US Open), and this weekend he got to take Nate on his first hike. He will probably laugh when he reads this because it was not exactly the type of adventure hiking he had in mind, but he was outdoors with Nate none-the-less! It was so beautiful when we got up on Sunday we decided right away we had to get outside and enjoy the fall-like day. So we packed up our crew plus Mom and Maddux and drove about an hour north to Amicalola Falls. We weren't exactly the only ones who had this brilliant idea...it was a short (but steep) hike up to the bottom of the falls with a lot of, let's just say, interesting folks. The falls themselves were beautiful, but you have to climb a lot of stairs to get to the top of the falls, so we figured that would be a little much with the baby and two dogs. So, after that short adventure, we packed up and headed back home.

But it was just too nice out to go home so we decided to hit some trails near our house along the Chatahootchee. It is kind of amazing that we left town to find a place to explore but what we have in our own backyard is just as beautiful. Nate loved being outdoors. I carried him in the Baby Bjorn carrier and he just sat back and took it all in. It was such a cool thing to see him look at everything in amazement. Michael and I both hope that he has an appreciation for the outdoors and hopefully this was his first taste of it!

After a brief encounter with a meth addict (crazy lady in the parking lot at the trail head - I wish we had gotten a picture of her but I was honestly a little scared) we dropped the dogs off and ended the day with a nice dinner outside in Historic Roswell. Michael and I are ready to find our next home, but we would give anything to stay here in Roswell. It really is a great place to live (minus crazy meth lady) so we hope it works out for us!

I am trying to figure out how to add the entire album of our pics from the day for everyone to see, but here are a few pics until that happens!
