Labor Day Weekend

Let's start with the fun events of the weekend....Amanda Pavloff turned one! So, we went to her party and celebrated with her. Nate gets so engrossed with food and toys sometimes I don't think he notices other kids....he pushed her toys around the house like it was his job. He didn't care whose toes he ran over. And I was so careful to not let him have cake, and checked the ice cream packages to see if it had eggs....which I have to mention because I was not so thoughtful today....

The weather was a little overcast today and the forecast called for afternoon showers (which there weren't any) so we decided to skip the outdoor activities just in case. So, we went to lunch in the square....I ordered him something from the kids menu but none of the sides sounded that kid-friendly (chips or potato salad). I went with potato salad since I knew chips wouldn't work...what was I thinking?? I thought I would give him a tiny little bite of potato to see if he would eat it....what was I thinking?? The second he put it in his mouth and started chewing it dawned on me that mayo is made with eggs...duh!!?? He did fine for a few minutes so we scarfed down our food and took off....I thought all was well and we had narrowly escaped a disaster, but once we got in the car he started screaming and his body was covered in hives....by the time I could get him out of the car his chest was starting to tighten up so we got the benedryl down him. Goodness gracious, it was nerve-wracking....and I felt like I deserved the award for "Worst Mother of the Year". To see those big tears and know I caused them?? I felt HORRIBLE...Ugh...seriously, what was I thinking?? Unfortunately, it probably won't be the last time I forget what is made with eggs....which is why I travel with Benedryl.

Once the meds kicked in he was fine and he started playing and acting completely normal. So, we decided to take him to the park as a mea culpa. So, needless to say, we did not have big plans this Labor Day weekend, but it was still exciting!
