Remembering May... Our New Yard

So much happened in May (and so many pics were taken) that I felt the need to catch up before Summer events take over...so here is the beginning of the "Remembering May" series (in no particular order except whatever set of pics I come across first!)...  :)

Yes, this is a post on Grass...but it makes me happy and there are cute pics of the boys so bear with me...

We spent a good part of the month completely redoing our backyard...it had gotten awful...the run-off had completely washed away our grass along with any nutrients that might have been left in the soil and seeding became futile.  Since I am home and have the responsibility of keeping the kids entertained this summer...I needed my yard back, badly.  After receiving a few overpriced estimates, our DIY instincts kicked back in and we decided we could do the work ourselves (for the most part) and we rolled up our sleeves.
We had help with this part - since all of the drainage had to be rerouted - but it was tilled back to just the pretty red GA clay...with lots of organic matter added in...

We had lots of helpers...the boys had to soak every night to get the clay off of them

The almost finished product!

Nate is a super big help with the watering...

Ahhh....grass....

This was a few weeks ago...it has already greened up and grown together (and been mowed!) more since these pics...
There is still some landscaping to do but we have been spending LOTS more time out in the yard lately...I am so happy we finally did it and it wasn't that hard to do!

You and your DIY crew amaze me...and make me envious. Doing the backyard was worth just getting those pictures...they're great!
