It is hard to believe that Nate's "first" year of "real" school is over. And the year was a success...he had a great classroom with two wonderful teachers and such sweet kids...he made two really close friends that he talks about daily, he learned a lot and had so much fun...and I only forgot his lunch and/or backpack twice! Overall, a success! :) I loved being able to share this year with him and be able to attend field trips and class parties and pop in to his room to read to his class.
So to end the year we had a week of fun to celebrate...there was a field trip to PLAY which was just his class so it was really nice to hang out with the other moms while the kids ran wild. Then there was a Luau for all 3 of the 3 yr old classes and wouldn't you know it went from 80's down to 50 and cloudy and windy the day of the Luau?? So it was a chilly outdoor cookout but it was kinda funny to see the kids in their leis and visors over the coats that had to be dug out of their backpacks! And the last day was an ice cream party in their class. I know I have a long school road ahead of me but I was a little sad to say "goodbye" to his teachers whom I had gotten to know so well and the kids/parents (many of which are going in different directions for pre-K next year). And I know Nate misses school because every morning when he wakes up he says "is today a school day??". He says he misses his "buddies"! Here's to hoping every school year is as great as this one has been!
