Magic Day 3 - Animal Kingdom

I had never been to Animal Kingdom before and I really liked it....however, it didn't go over so well with the kids at first after being at the castle all day the day before.  We got to the park and headed straight for the Safari to try to catch the best morning animal viewing time...and Nate was not thrilled with looking at animals when he could be riding rides (I hadn't taken him for an adrenaline junkie before this trip).

Matthew's favorite activity was chasing birds and squirrels...he had a particularly active game going on this morning...he kept chasing a squirrel in to bushes yelling after them "skwull where ah you?"  (I also learned that squirrels are unique to foreigners - I saw several people taking pictures and videos of them.  On this particular occasion, Matthew was getting in a French man's way of taking pictures of it.)

So after a slow ramp up to happiness that morning, we had an early lunch at the Tusker House with even more characters.  On the docket today was Safari Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Goofy.  I think this meal was probably the best food we had on the trip.  The only downside of this meal was Mickey - we had an angelic sleeping baby (which was a rare thing)...we even convinced the restaurant to let us wheel him in the giant stroller right up to the table.  We had our food...all was right with the world...until Mickey came along.  He must have been a 16 yr old boy who knew nothing about letting a sleeping baby lie...he actually got in his face and tickled his nose until he woke up (which is terrifying in and of itself to wake up to a giant mouse head in your face).  I thought Michael was going to punch Mickey right there in front of all the children...and I woulda had his back.  So Matthew was up and not happy so we had to rush through the rest of our lunch.  Thanks Mickey.

Doing the Jambo Dance with Neena
Any way....the day also picked up once Nate found his cousins again.  We spent the better part of the afternoon in Dinoland....they played in that playground and in the digging area for (what felt like) hours.  With so many eyes on the kids, that gave Michael and I the opportunity to pull a fast pass for Everest and ride on our own...glad we did, it was fun!

Then we went to the Lion King show and I guess the cool dark theater put my tired babies to sleep....

So Animal Kingdom day was fun - highlights were definitely the dinosaurs and the Bug's Life show.
